5 Course Dinner & Beer Pairing

A Toast to Success! Our debut event Made Rockport Brewtiful, seasoned with a sprinkle of lessons learned along the way. Here’s the scoop:  **Brews & Bites:** We ditched the usual pub grub clichés and served up first-class culinary creations that proved our beers are more than just wingmen for wings. Shoutout to The Salsa Boss and his better half, Rebecca, for spicing up the evening! We’re eagerly anticipating more tasty collaborations once they make the hop down to Rockport. **Location, Location, Libation:** Our soirée at Rockport Beach Pavilion boasted a view that could rival the best brews in town. Sure, it cost a pretty penny, but hey, good taste comes at a price, right? We’re eyeing a repeat performance at this stellar spot as we brew up our local rep. And if the community can’t come to us, we’ll bring the party to them—stay tuned! **Entertainment Extravaganza:** We brought a taste of city flair to our rural neck of the woods, serving up an experience that’s as rare as a unicorn in a brewery. From photo ops galore to flavor-filled chats with our chef and brewmaster, the good times flowed as smoothly as our finest TexMex Lager. **Timing Is Everything:** Lesson learned—maybe we bit off more than we could chew with our first event. But hey, we’re not ones to shy away from a challenge! Next time, we’ll swap the late-night vibes for a sun-soaked lunch affair, ensuring our guests can savor every sip and sunset. **VIP Treatment:** Our VIP guests got the royal treatment, but we’re brewing up some extra-special perks for next time. Free photos? Bonus bites? The possibilities are endless! And note to self: prime seating should come with prime views—no reflections allowed! **Brew with a View:** Our beers might’ve had a bit of a rocky ride to the party, but fear not! New equipment is on the horizon, promising crystal-clear brews that’ll put a smile on every sipper’s face. Next stop: the Texas Mariners Museum’s Wine Festival and appearances at Rockport Fulton Market Days and beyond! So there you have it, folks—our inaugural soirée may have had its ups and downs, but we’re raising a glass to the journey ahead. Cheers to good beer, great food, and even better company! Cheers, Diedra Amaya

Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest Oktoberfest, my favorite beer! It’s the season of the year with a remarkable celebration of beer, tradition, and Bavarian culture. From MÀrzen lagers to festbiers, it stands as one of the most celebrated beer festivals globally. It can be traced back to Munich, Germany, in or around 1810. The birth of this iconic event occurred during the wedding celebration of the Bavarian Crowned Prince, Louis, who later became King Louis I, to his new wife, Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. The royal wedding took place on October 12, 1810, and the citizens of Munich were invited to join in the festivities. This event was such a resounding success, that the Bavarian authorities decided to make it an annual tradition. Over time, this celebration gradually evolved into the Oktoberfest that we know and love today. The name ‘Oktoberfest’ is somewhat misleading. While it begins in late September and typically extends into the first weekend of October, it still retains the historical connection to that original October wedding date. Oktoberfest was not just about drinking; it was a celebration of love, tradition, and the Bavarian way of life. Oktoberfest beer, commonly referred to as MÀrzen, got its name from the time when brewers would cold-store the beer in the month of March. In German, March is ‘MÀrz,’ which is the origin of the name ‘MÀrzen’ for the robust, full-bodied amber lager we enjoy today. MÀrzens are known for their drinkability, rich maltiness, and smooth character, often featuring a malt-forward, toasty, biscuity body with a balanced hop bitterness. In modern Germany, when you attend Oktoberfest, you’ll find ‘Festbier,’ a lighter-bodied beer with a notable malt character similar to Helles. This variation is preferred by many for its approachable flavor profile. So, when you have the opportunity, do try out one of these exceptional beers. In Rockport Texas, Bay Area Brewing offers a MÀrzen-style lager during the Oktoberfest season, from September to October. As we continue to grow, we look forward to hosting our own festive day, celebrating not only great beer but also the camaraderie and traditions that make Oktoberfest a cherished event.   Cheers, Will Amaya

Why we are Crowdfunding our Brewery

Crowdfunding Brewery

Why we are Crowdfunding our Brewery Will has a passion for sharing his wealth of knowledge in craft beer. Whether it be aconversation about flavors and history or a full brewing engagement, he hopes to stir ourcommunities interest in great beer. Will has been home brewing since 2015 and after retiring fromthe US Navy, he has attended several schools, apprenticed under reputable brewers, and we havebeen active members with the Texas Craft Brewing Association for several years. After Iretired from the US Navy, we relocated our family back where we met stationed in Ingleside, andclose to all Will’s family in Kingsville. In 2017, Will Amaya, born in Kingsville Texas, began a journey into the unknown beer scene of Virginia.Retiring from the US Navy after 20 yearsof active duty service, he enrolled in University of Vermont’s Business of Craft Beer CertificationCourse to follow his passion in the craft beer business. Will’s experiences in the US Navy as a hull technician, welding, damage controlman, pipefitting, and emergency management led to his employment with Virginia Department of Transportation and then OSHA. Will continued to follow his passion in brewing craft beer by studying with the University of Richmond’s Craft Brewer Certification Course and then certifying with The Brewing Distilling Center of Knoxville Tennessee’s Professional Brewing and Distilling Technology. He apprenticed with someof the most popular breweries in the VA region such as Hardywood Park Craft Brewery West Creek, Three Notch’d Craft Brewery Richmond, and locally assisting with owner and head brewer Hector Cavasos of Rebel Toad Brewing Co. to say he just stirred the pot would be an understatement. From assisting with merchandise, nailingwood to the walls, ripping insulation out of the ceilings, and learning all of ABC requirements,Will quickly became an expert in running a successful brewery–even though his title never quite matched his actual duties. Diedra also retired from the US Navy after 20 years of active duty service in 2019, after meeting Will while both stationed at Naval Station Ingleside Texas, they knew they were destined to return to the Coastal Bend. She has a passion for community involvement and engagement as recent as assisting Rockport City Council with Charter initiatives. Her experience in project management, operations planning, maintenance management, elected treasurer positions, and career development as the senior enlisted advisor shows a proven commitment to team building and personnel management, preparing venues, creating andmaintaining a wide range of budgets, and all while maintaining a positive active work family life balance. Together Will and Diedra have combined their knowledge and experiences to upgrade rental property and landscape in Portland Texas, completely renovate their colonial home in Newport News Virginia, build a new construction home in Chesterfield County Virginia, and created high scale landscape retreats.

Let me introduce myself

Let me introduce myself As you all join us on this journey to bring a craft brewery to our community, Iwould like to share stories of my journey into craft beer and our brewery’sbuildout. While some of my stories reflect my personal opinions about certainbeers and destinations, it doesn’t mean that I’m always right. I’m by no means acraft beer snob or the definitive authority on the craft beer world. I’m just a guywho loves fresh, good beer and wants to share that passion with all of you. Joinme and my wife, Dee, as we strive to “Make Rockport Brewtiful.” Thank you for visiting our website. I will be covering various aspects of craft beer, including its history, current events, updates on our brewery’s progress, andsharing some of my personal beer-related stories to give you a sense of whereI’m coming from. Let’s work together to make our area of the bay (Bay AreaBrewing Company) a hot spot for fresh craft beer. We’ll have a range of offerings, from crushable lagers that are crisp and refreshing to hop-forward IPAs, andmany other styles. Like many other businesses, opening a brewery requires careful planning andtime. While I sometimes feel impatient and want to make things happen quickly, there are numerous laws and licensing requirements in the world of beer thattake time to navigate. When we reach those stages, we will keep you informedand updated. Additionally, we plan to attend various events in the future, andwe’ll share those dates on social media. We hope to meet you all soon, engagein beer conversations, and discuss what we have brewing up. Cheers, Will Amaya
